Long-term blood glucose monitoring

Hb-A1C reflects the average blood glucose level in the 2–3 months before the test. Long-term blood glucose monitoring at a laboratory at every 3–6 months, for example, complements self-monitoring and helps with treatment planning.

Long-term blood glucose monitoring is done by taking a blood sample. The test does not require fasting or sampling in the morning.
