Transferrin receptor, soluble

Measuring the plasma transferrin receptor levels is currently considered the single most effective method to diagnose iron deficiency anaemia, as TfR levels are not affected by inflammatory states or infections. Increases in TfR above reference values indicate depletion of body iron stores.

The transferrin receptor test is performed on a blood sample. The test does not require fasting or sampling in the morning.

Please note that Fimlab is not responsible for the interpretation of the results.

Abbreviation: P -TfR
Examination code: 4720
Reference values: women 1.8–4.6 mg/l, men 1.8–4.7 mg/l
