Fimlab has introduced new machines for collecting and returning sample containers in the Pirkanmaa region during August and September. The new machines are available at the following service locations: Fimlab Hatanpää, Fimlab Lempäälä, Fimlab Nokia and Fimlab Vammala. A sample container machine has also been installed at Fimlab Valkeakoski, and it will be taken into use during the autumn. The sample container machines serve customers who collect a sample container for a home test or return a sample taken at home.   

The aim of using the machine is to simplify the sample collection process and improve customer satisfaction. Sample containers can still be collected and returned to the laboratory by taking a queue ticket.   

Valid Referral Required  

To use the machines for collecting and returning sample containers, the customer must have a valid referral and know which sample container to collect from the machine. This information is provided by the healthcare unit issuing the referral.  

The machine can be used by customers who collect or return sample containers for the following urine tests:    

A) Urine albumin-creatinine ratio U -AlbKre  

B) Basic urine tests U -KemSeul, U -Solut (cells), U -BaktVi   

C) Chlamydia and gonnorhoea U -CtNgNhO.   

Opening Hours for the Machines for Collecting and Returning of Sample Containers 

Fimlab Hatanpää: the machine for collecting and returning sample containers is located in the laboratory’s waiting area. Sample containers can be collected and samples returned during the laboratory’s opening hours: weekdays Monday to Friday 8–18 and Saturday 8.30–14. 

Fimlab Kuninkaankulma: the machine for collecting and returning sample containers is located in the shopping centre corridor outside the laboratory. Sample containers can be collected at any time during the shopping centre’s opening hours. Samples can be returned during the laboratory’s opening hours: Monday to Friday 7–17 (note: not open on Saturdays). 

Fimlab Linnainmaa: the machine for collecting and returning sample containers is located in the shopping centre corridor outside the laboratory. Sample containers can be collected at any time during the shopping centre’s opening hours. Samples can be returned during the laboratory’s opening hours: Monday to Thursday 8–15.45 and Friday 8–13. 

Fimlab Lempäälä: the machine for collecting and returning sample containers is located in the laboratory corridor. Sample containers can be collected and samples returned during the laboratory’s opening hours: Monday to Thursday 7.30–15 and Friday 7.30–14. 

Fimlab Nokia: the machine for collecting and returning sample containers is located near the main entrance of Nokia’s social and health centre. Sample containers can be collected during the health centre’s opening hours: Monday to Friday 7.30–16, and samples can be returned during the laboratory’s opening hours: Monday to Friday 7.30–15. Healthcare professionals working at the health centre may collect sample containers at any time of day.  

Fimlab Valkeakoski: the machine for collecting and returning sample containers is located in the lobby of the T-building at Valkeakoski Health Centre Hospital, near the laboratory. Once the machine is in use, sample containers can be collected during the T-building’s opening hours: Monday to Friday 7–18 and Saturday to Sunday 8–18 and samples can be returned during the laboratory’s opening hours: Monday to Friday 7–15. 

Fimlab Vammala: the machine for collecting and returning sample containers is located in the laboratory’s waiting area. Sample containers can be collected during the health centre’s opening hours: Monday to Friday 7.15–16, and samples can be returned during the laboratory’s opening hours: Monday to Thursday 7.15–15 and Friday 7.15–13. Healthcare professionals working at the health centre may collect sample containers at any time of day.
