Fimlab conducts its own scientific research and offers research services to its professional clients. The focus areas in research are in public health diseases, clinical applications, new diagnostics and the promotion of diagnostics quality.
Fimlab’s scientific research and research teams
Fimlab is a pioneer of Finnish laboratory research. We collaborate with the Tampere University Faculty of Medicine and Health Technology as well as the research teams at its Cardiovascular Research Center and Prostate Cancer Research Center.
Fimlab’s research teams conduct internationally significant basic and applied research and participate actively in the research centres’ operations, in particular, in terms of the research of public health diseases, cardiovascular diseases, cancer and immunology.
Scientific research services for professional customers
Fimlab offers its professional customers laboratory services related to scientific and clinical research activities. They can include both sample collection services and routine analyses as well as tests that require research and development. Fimlab’s sampling network and sample logistics cover approximately 1.5 million private customers in Finland. The sample size is suitable for the execution of both national and international research projects.

- Consultation services in clinical chemistry, haematology, microbiology, pathology and genetics
- Planning of laboratory research packages, cost estimation and contracts
- Designing and implementing research request practices
- Guidance and documentation of sample collection
- Guidance and documentation of special sample processing
- Storage of research samples
- Processing of samples that will be sent out
- Processing and recording of test results
Fimlab gathers and collects samples in collaboration with biobanks operating in its area, among others. Biobanks collect samples for medical research and product development.
