Basic blood count test

The basic blood count test is most commonly performed when anaemia (low haemoglobin) is suspected. The test will also reveal several other markers indicating the blood cell count and size. A basic blood count includes the following subtests: B -Leuk (white blood cells), B -Eryt (red blood cells), B -Hb (haemoglobin), B -HKR (haematocrit), B -Trom (thrombocytes), E -RDW (Red cell Distribution Width) and B -EryBla (erythroblasts). Basic blood count test is performed on a blood sample. The test does not require fasting or sampling in the morning. See here for more information and reference values for basic blood count test.
