High-risk HPV test

Human papilloma virus (HPV) is the most significant factor in the development of malignant cervical cell changes. HPV infection will usually heal on its own but may sometimes be prolonged and lead to an increased risk of precancerous changes. A negative HPV result predicts a very low risk of malignant cell changes in the next few years. The sample for a high-risk HPV test is collected from the cervix. The test can be taken either during a cervical screening (Pap smear) or as a separate test. A gynaecological smear (Pap smear) is not part of the high-risk HPV test, so it must be booked as a separate test. Always book an appointment for a high-risk HPV test. The result will appear on MyKanta as a statement. The result will not be available in the Fimlab mobile app. Please note that Fimlab is not responsible for interpretation of the results.
