Vitamin B12, bound to transcobalamin II

Vitamin B12 is a vitamin that is essential for the functioning of the nervous system and the brain, and can only be obtained from foods of animal origin. A vegan diet does not provide enough vitamin B12. Certain intestinal diseases or medications may hinder vitamin B12 absorption. Deficiency causes anaemia, fatigue and various symptoms of the nervous system, such us tingling, numbness and sensory disturbances in the limbs. A vitamin B12 test is done on a blood sample. The test does not require fasting or sampling in the morning. Please note that Fimlab is not responsible for interpretation of the results.
