ELASTASE 1 FROM STOOL
The purpose of the test is to examine the faecal elastase concentration. Elastase is excreted into the gut from the pancreas and transferred to stool unchanged. Elastase is an indicator of the excretory function of the pancreas.
Sample collection
Defecate on a suitable surface. Use the spoon that comes with the sample container to put the sample into the container (approximately one teaspoon). Replace the lid tightly.
A watery sample may give an incorrect, lower result.
The name tag is necessary for identifying the sample
Stick a label on to the side of the sample container. Write on it your
- name
- social security number
- date of sample collection
Store the sample in a cold place.
Deliver the sample to the laboratory no later than on the next working day.
