GLUCAGON TEST (PANCREATIC INSULIN PRODUCTION)

The unit responsible for your care books an appointment for a glucagon test for you.

The purpose of the glucagon test is to examine the insulin production of the pancreas.

Eating influences the test result

Do not eat anything after 8 p.m. the evening before the test. You can drink water. You can drink a glass of water on the morning of the test.

Alcohol influences the test result

It is recommended to avoid alcohol for 24 hours before the test.

Stress influences the test result

Avoid physical exertion that causes sweating for 24 hours before the test.

Inject insulin

If you use insulin, inject insulin on the morning of the test and eat breakfast as usual,

Blood samples

At the start of the test, a blood sample is taken and you are given a glucagon injection. A second blood sample is taken after six minutes.
