The sample is examined for pinworm eggs in the anal region.
Sample collection
The sample must be taken in the morning directly after waking up and before washing or bowel movement.
You need a sturdy cotton swab and a plastic tube containing normal saline solution for the sample collection. The sample is transported in a plastic bag.
Dip a swab into the saline solution and rub it strongly against the creases in the anal region. Finally, push the swab approximately 0.5 cm deep into the anus. Place the swab inside the plastic tube containing normal saline solution. If necessary, you can snap the swab in half to close the tube tightly. Place the tube inside a plastic bag.
The name tag is necessary for identifying the sample
Stick a label on to the sampling tube. Write on it your
- name
- social security number
- date of sample
Store and deliver the sample to the laboratory at room temperature.
