INR test

INR tests are most commonly used in anticoagulation therapy (‘blood thinning treatment’) to monitor the effectiveness of warfarin. Warfarin is better known by its commercial name Marevan®. INR tests are performed on a blood sample. The test does not require fasting or morning sampling. The treating physician is always responsible for interpreting your results.

Name and abbreviation of test: THROMBOPLASTIN TIME, INR OUTPUT P -TT-INR

In a healthy person who is not receiving anticoagulation therapy, the P-TT-INR is approximately 0.9 – 1.2. The target treatment level depends on the reason for warfarin therapy and is most commonly 2.0 – 3.0.
