Fimlab’s electronic services: activating Suomi.fi messages during authentication

As of 14 April 2026, a change has been introduced to the Suomi.fi identification service, which also affects our customers who authenticate themselves in Fimlab’s electronic services. Our electronic services include electronic appointment booking, the Fimlab mobile application, and electronic forms.

When you authenticate yourself in these services, the Suomi.fi identification service will ask you to activate Suomi.fi messages if you are not already using them. To activate Suomi.fi messages, you need to provide an email address to which notifications of incoming official messages will be sent. A confirmation code will be sent to the address you provide. After confirming, you can continue to the Fimlab service.

The change is due to the fact that, as of 14 April 2026, the delivery of official mail has primarily become digital, and Suomi.fi messages have replaced paper mail sent by authorities. Read more about the change on the website of the Digital and Population Data Services Agency: Official mail goes digital – Suomi.fi messages replace several paper letters sent by authorities | Digital and Population Data Services Agency.

The change does not affect customer letters sent by Fimlab. Since autumn 2025, we have primarily sent invitations, reminders and results related to cervical cancer and colorectal cancer screening electronically via Suomi.fi messages or OmaPost’s electronic mailbox. The first invitation for colorectal cancer screening is sent by post to the home address, as it also includes sample collection supplies.
