The main cause of cervical cancer is the Human Papilloma Virus (HPV), also known as the wart virus or condyloma virus. HPV viruses are divided into high-risk and low-risk groups in terms of cancer. The high-risk HPV test indicates a prolonged high-risk HPV infection before the microscopic precursors have even developed.

The sample for a high-risk HPV test is collected from the cervix. The test can be taken either during a cervical screening (a Pap test) or as a separate test.

Note! Cervical screening (a Pap test) is not part of the high-risk HPV test, so it has to be booked as a separate test.

A high-risk HPV test (a Pap test / gynaecological samples, other than mass screening samples) requires an appointment.
